Biography

Born in São Paulo in 1994 and raised in the countryside of the state, Kaique Fontes is a Brazilian film and television composer, cellist, and guitarist. He creates original scores, orchestrations, and music for short films, documentaries, and feature films, including Onde Há Vida, Há Esperança.

In 2025, he was one of four composers selected for the Filmmusik program at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany, one of the world’s leading film schools. There, he develops work in screen composition, orchestration, instrumentation, sound design, and music production, collaborating with directors and professionals across the film industry.

His upcoming training includes recording sessions with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, octet, small band, and big band sessions at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim, and an orchestral workshop in Žilina, Slovakia.

He was also selected, alongside other young composers, to contribute to the Filmmusik-Suite. The work will receive its world premiere by the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker in June 2027, during the 90th-anniversary celebration of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. He has also composed for projects developed in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London.

Kaique Fontes holds a bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the University of São Paulo (USP), where he studied with Prof. Dr. André Micheletti. He has taken part in festival masterclasses and was a member of Quarteto Ribeirão.

A cello teacher certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), he also holds a degree in music education and has more than 15 years of teaching experience. He worked as a cello teacher and orchestra assistant at Projeto Guri’s Jundiaí regional center in Brazil.

His work brings together acoustic instruments, orchestral recordings, and contemporary production. He also composes and records solo cello and guitar parts for film and other audiovisual projects.
